In cities across the United States, but particularly in D.C., "Food Deserts" - urban areas where it is very difficult to find fresh, affordable food - create massive health issues. Meanwhile, traditional agriculture accounts for over twenty percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and food scraps account for forty percent of our waste stream.
Thomas started Apogee Farms to create the first sustainable urban food system. From our urban farm we provide our community with the freshest, most sustainably grown, nutrient dense greens available. Meanwhile, our partnership with Puvlr Compost allows us to drop off greens to local restaurants and pickup organic food scraps for conversion into organic soils to grow our greens.
Local cultivation and distribution help us deliver our products quickly after being harvested to ensure they are fresh tasting, nutritionally dense and long-lasting.
Our fresh-cut herbs make cooking a colorful journey. Just buy, chop, and toss into your favorite dishes for extra-fresh flavor extra-fast. And because they come in an array of sizes, you can buy just as much or as little as you need.
